DEAR 17 YEAR OLD ME

Dear 17 year old me,

Life is hard when you're 17, trust me I get it, but, you're about to graduate high school in a few months! You're almost there, just push through. Sometimes life can be hard, but if you focus on what you want, you'll get whatever you desire. Oh and surprise, you end up choosing Arkansas over Oklahoma State, but no worries, you love it more than you ever thought you would.

You're about to meet a boy who changes your life and becomes your best friend instantly. He'll really help you to become a happier person. You'll realize that staying at a community college for a year will really benefit you in the long run and your family goodbyes won't be as hard when the time really does come.

You'll stay in touch with your high school friends that have now been transformed into "Pizza Cult" and while you realize you're probably annoying with each other on social media, you don't care what anyone from your hometown thinks as long as you appreciate your friends. Saying goodbye to them never gets easier.

Once you get to Arkansas, you're gonna meet people that you've never been around before and some are great, while others....not so much. Leaving home increases your anxiety attacks to pretty much always, but you meet a new best friend who helps you stay focused and pushes you to do your best, thats what you need. Don't forget that.

Some people who have walked through your life, haven't walked back in since you've graduated high school, but its probably for the best. They impacted your life at the time they were in it, but you grew up and you have now met people that are going to impact you NOW and for the long run.

You're going to realize that you tend to surround yourself with people who smile just as much as you do, don't stop doing this. It really will benefit you later on. Trust me. You'll realize the things that have upset or affected you in the past, still do affect you and you really are extremely insecure about yourself no matter who tells you that you aren't.

You used to love being surrounded constantly by friends and family, but you'll learn to appreciate alone time as well. It really helps to slow your brain and keeps you motivated.

You'll cry...A LOT.....but don't worry, it doesn't seem so bad to you anymore.

It sounds cliche and dumb right now, but your life will get better, you'll be at a place you never thought you would be and meeting people you never thought you would meet. Remember that.

Things you thought you knew about yourself, you didn't. You're just figuring things out about who you are. Like, what you're afraid of, what you ultimately strive for, and that you'll always be a big dreamer.

Don't stop writing about everything or taking pictures of everything, you'll appreciate it in a few years more than you thought you would.

Keep inspiring yourself, but most importantly, stay true to what you believe and who you are.
